Alex Otzen

Alex is our Principal Coach and Coaches our Juniors, Intermediates and Masters!  She is Level 2 qualified - the highest Calisthenics Coaching qualification in Australia.

 

She started Calisthenics aged 4 at Regent Calisthenics College and competed there for 15 years until Regent closed - she was lucky enough to be involved in their consecutive run of State and Royal South Street Aggregates.  She then performed as a Senior for 5 years with Crown Calisthenics College.  Alex gained her Bronze medal in Pupil Skills in 1998.

 

Alex commenced Coaching as an Assistant for the Seniors section at St Stephens CC for two years from 1997, before gaining her Level 1 qualification in 1998 and commencing Coaching of Juniors and Intermediates at Watsonia CC.  In 2000, Watsonia merged to become Banyule CC where she Coached Juniors for 2 years, Inters for 5 years, Co-Coached Sub-Juniors for 1 year, and assisted Seniors for 5 years.  Alex moved to Sale in 2006 and without a local Calisthenics Club, ceased Coaching until she opened East Gippsland Calisthenics in 2014.

 

Alex became only the 16th Coach in Victoria to achieve her Level 2 Coaching qualification when she completed her final training module in May 2016.  In 2017 she was awarded the Victorian Calisthenics Coaches Association Development Coach of the year!

 

Alex became a qualified Calisthenic skills examiner in 2006 and is qualified to examine up to Grade 3.  She joined the Australian Society of Calisthenic Adjudicators in 2007, and became a qualified adjudicator in 2012, and is an Advanced Two Maintenance Adjudicator.  She's been fortunate to adjudicate in Melbourne, Horsham, Warrnambool, Echuca, Mt Gambier, Canberra, Perth, Brisbane and Sydney.

 

Alex has been the State Calisthenics Coach Association membership registrar since 2005 and has been the National Coach registrar since 2014.

In July 2018, Alex became Module 1 certified Acrobatics Coach with Acrobatic Arts, and this has allowed us introduce acrobatic skills from Primary - Level 6 in our classes!

Narelle McLeod

Narelle assists our Juniors and Masters.  She is Level 1 qualified with the Australian Sports Commission/Australian Calisthenic Federation.

 

She did Calisthenics as a young child, then returned to the sport when our club opened.  She has a daughter in the Intermediates section and has been assisting Calisthenics since 2016 under the tutelage of Alex. 

 

In her time away from Calisthenics, Narelle is a Theatre Nurse at the local hospital.  

Eloise Nottle

Eloise is our Tinies Coach and is a member of our Intermediates team.  She is Recreational qualified with the Australian Sports Commission/Australian Calisthenic Federation.

 

She started Calisthenics in 2016 and was part of our earliest competitive teams through Juniors and Intermediates.  She has been assisting in our Tinies sections since she was 12 years old, and gained her Recreational qualification when she turned 16.  

 

In her time away from Calisthenics, Eloise is completing Year 12.
